I have cloudy (murky) water for some time now and I dont know which factor is causing it.

I have 135 Gallon.

My feeding schedule:
once a week - Kent chromplex, zooplex, and phytoplex, cyclop-eeze freeze dried.

once a day - formula one marine pellets.

Are you using a skimmer? How many/which fish? Do you have a cleanup crew? You might also try running some carbon to clear it up.

Same thing happened in my tank. I ran a UV Sterilizer for a week and it cleared everything up perfectly. It has never clouded up since (about two months now). I was told that the UV Sterilizer would kill the phytoplankton, but for only one week that was not a big deal. It had no adverse effects on my tank that I could notice.

How long have you been running the UV for? I did not notice any changes until about the 5th consecutive day.

What kind of fish? How many?

What kind of skimmer?

When's the last time you changed that carbon you speak of?

Could try ozone -- that might clear it up but isn't going to fix the source of the problem and is a hefty investment, not to mention more maintenance.

Just a shot in the dark, since you don't state how old your tank is. Are you sure it's not microbubbles?

After I set up my tank, I had microbubbles that made my tank cloudy for a couple weeks until the skimmer calmed down and it and the plumbing "slimed up"

Just a thought.
