I just did a water change in my tank and for the first time ever, my sea urchin has moved to the top of the tank and starting squirting stuff out of five holes around its mouth. The holes are in a perfect pentagon shape and I think the pics show it pretty well.

Can anyone verify if this is in fact spawning, or is something else going on? Thanks alot

Well how convenient is that? I was just going to post a new thread asking what MY urchin was doing. It's currently ejecting 2mm yellow-white balls. With as well as this guy cleans algae off rocks, hope they're eggs. Will keep researching on the net but a quick answer from someone who knows would be great.

Yup, they're both spawning. If you both have single individuals it's unlikely you'll have recruitment as many urchin species require both males & females to participate in the process!
