I just purchased a new frogspawn (green with purple tips) of the branching variety. It has three heads and one is currently splitting into a fourth head. My question is that I am having difficulty placing it so that all of the head of facing up. No matter what I do, one head seems to be resting against a piece of my liverock. Will that kill the head? The rock isn't touching the fleshy part, but is pushing on the opening of one of the heads and that head (which is the one splitting) seems not to be fully expanding at the point.

Any advice is welcomed.

Get a second tiny rock, some reef putty and build up so that you can keep that head off the rockwork. It not only needs free expansion, it needs water flow to get to it freely. The nasty white of the putty will get covered by coralline someday.
