It was my first skimmer. Not that a picked it out. When I was new to the hobbt in 93 a lfs sold it to me.Package deal with my 75 gallon Odell Classic Series setup. The Oceanic 6 is an old school co-current venturi skimmer. It can only be used as an in sump unit. The bad features of this unit.
1-skimmer body is not clear.Makes it very hard to observe water level.
2-Fluctuations in sump water level create no skim-wet skim extremes.
Good feature. My skimmer came with an ehiem pump.
As for the gallon rating.I dont think this skimmer would do a good job on anything over 55 g.In my opinion.I hope this helps you.
