Glass thickness

I called an individual regarding 33d x 59w x 24h tank he's selling and inquired about the thickness of the glass and the guy thinks it's 1/4 of an inch. This sounds kind of thin to me for the size of tank.

Does anybody know what a safe thickness should be for this size of tank? I want to give the guy a call back but I want to make sure I know what the thickness "should be".

I would think it would be about 1/2" Hopefully!
