I've got a 7 gallon bow at work that I an bored with. I am thinking about taking everything out except a couple rocks and put a couple fast growing sps frags in there like a slimer or such. No skimmer, no fish, and maybe pick up a 70w light for it and maybe dose 2part. Does anyone have pics of such a set up and are my challenges?

I have a 75 nano. I love my brown acros. Upgraded to an ASM g2 so we'll see what colors they really are. J/K. not really :( I did try a 10 gallon. Couldn't keep the flow up without kicking around sand...Butt...I know you're a bare bottom kinda guy! Best of luck with your endeavor

i would try mounting the mh fixture in a hood, custom bulit. you would probably want 4 fans, just to be on the safe side in your office. I would get a 20 k bulb, so you dont have to supplement with pc.

Lol still in the dream stage, but I think a nice slimer in the middle of a 7 gallon bow would look kinda cool. Just worried about the heat.
Heres my 4ish gallon that I made. It has a 10 gallon sump and an osmolater so I can leave the house for more than an hour. A DE 70 watt ushio runs 7 hours a day. The growth is extreemly slow and the color is just ok but I love it. Theres a pipefish in there too.

Next to the softie tank I made as well.

Wow very cool. Is the light limiting your growth?

hey rtbm, does that dragonface feed on frozen? nice tank by the way, also do you have a lot of trouble with algae with the mh over such a small tank. you have to have an ATO right?
Thanks. I have been mulling over putting a stronger light over it but have yet to do so. So yes the growth is extreemly slow. As for algae I have an emerald crab that I toss in there once in a while and he cleans it up and there are 6 astrea snails in there now. Pic was before I got them. And yes I have on osmolater on there for top off.
I feed the pipefish live baby brine. Once or twice a day I turn the pump off and blast the tank with it. There is also a small goby in there too. Although he never comes out. The tank is a little demanding but doing a 3 or 4 gallon water change is easy compared to a 20 for my 90. up two flights of stairs then down one to dump it outside.
Thanks again

I have a 12gal nano, fully stocked. Mostly lps but I do have a few montis and acros. I run a 150watt 13k hqi from aquamedic. It heats up the water alil but I have a cheapie fan from Walmart that kicks on when the light comes on and keeps my water temp @ 79-81. I have a CPR skimmer on the back that helps out alot, they sell skimmers for nanos but I heard they weren't to great. I also have a small powerhead to increase the flow. I do water changes about three times a month, just because of the bio load I create from spot feeding. There some pics in my gallary if u wanna take a look, excuse the pic quality. I hope I was of some help. Good luck!

I just set up a 2.5G for a quaranteen tank. I have a quad bulb 50/50 96watt pc for light. I will be keeping frags in it. Water for changes will come from the dispaly tank. I have a MJ 600 with a hydor on it. I hope to pick up a few new frags today so I will take photos and post when I do.

What kind of kalk reactor do you have? I would like to get one for my 29.
How does your sand stay in place with that tunze?!

29 gallon
10 gallon sump
2 x seio 620s
Deltec AP600 skimmer
Korallin 1502 calcium reactor
4x24 icecap retrofit
Phosban reactor
Yeah I'm a little hardware crazy, but at least I won't have to upgrade it all when I move to a 90 gallon!

Yup, they are two bloodshrimp. I've found if you add more than one they are a lot more active and don't hide as much. They've also been reproducing about once every two weeks now.

That is a cool idea. Anyone know if they are hermaphroditic so you wont end up with 2 males killing eachother?
Great tanks though guys. Check my red house for mine, but I don't really have any decent new shots since I've been out of the country for a couple months.

They are hermaphroditic. I know because both seem to get pregnant and be carrying eggs at the same time!
Also, all the research I did told me they were too :)
