Well I got this bad boy in today and to my disappointment, it has a nice chip in the corner, and it seems that the silicone is not finished correctly.
I know these are great tanks, and Finnex is a company that stands behind their product I have heard, so I am hoping for the best.

Oh I ordered through Premium Aquatics.
I have emailed PA and we'll see what they say in the morning. Jay seems like a great guy over there.

Sorry that I bit in to it too hard.
;)
But really...
From what i heard also, it's one of those companies that you just "have to buy from". I've only heard good things from my fellow planted tank keepers. I hope that the chip doesn't affect your goal, but from the look of it I would give it back and get a new one.
Better safe than sorry.
Oh, and don't blame PA for it... Blame the delivery company. I used to see UPS throw each box out of their trucks at my last job. I even asked the guy if that's standard procedure. He said yeah.
:P

Oh I dont blame anyone at this point.
Where the silicone problem is, I can see the edge of the side pane of glass, and that is scary.

Hint hint.
Don't risk it.
Especially how expensive this hobby can be.

Premium Aquatics is a fantastic company. I'm sure they will get you a new one w/o drama. I hate dissapointments like that. You'll be up and running in no time I'm sure.

Whoa, I'd be really upset and bummed. I'd send it back. I would for sure send it back to be safe. Sorry =(

Just got a response from Ken at Finnex and he has me a replacement tank coming. That's awesome customer service for sure!! There was no hassle or run around at all. One email to him and that was it.

I just read another thread where the Finnex tank from Premium arrived with the glass cracked. They should start rethinking their shipping company.
On a brighter note, that's two people I have read about who have had good experiences with Premium's return on damaged goods policy. Good to know.
I'm glad it worked out for you, Rev. I can't wait to see what you've got up your sleeve for this tank.

yeah, Drs. Foster & Smith went through something simliar when shipping Aquapods. Most of them arrived cracked because they shipped them in the original shipping boxes. Now they triple box them.... mine when it arrived took me a while to get into it but it was not cracked.

Good deal!! I'll be following this to see how it goes I think these tanks look really good. I would love one but since I have 5 tanks now I think a 6th would get me a DIVORCE!!
