View Full Version : mushroom eating fish

I have a mushroom problem.

They are too happy in my tank, and they spread like wildfire.

I hack them off the rock with a screwdriver, and they come back in force.

Everything else in the tank is great, no algae problems, etc.

Is there a fish that might keep these things in check? They are slowly propagating everywhere...

Current occupants :

mystery wrasse
coral beauty
false perc
red hawkfish

tank is a 75 gallon, with 30 gallon above fuge. mix of sps, lps and softies (all of which are growing great).

Why don't you frag them and sell them back to your LFS? Or, you can give them to me! :D

yea ill take some also!

I want some too.....
After all selling or donating live stock is not only fun but rewarding as well. I used to breed various african cichlids and actually found it to be somewhat profitable and of course it also helped to further expand the hobby by helping friends and associates start aquariums at minimal expenses... yea it was alot of work trying to catch african cichlids in a 125 stocked full of rock but then again how can you really call it work when it is a hobby?

I'm all for fragging and sharing, but I consider this particular mushroom to be a real pest.

I would feel bad putting this in someone else's tank. If they're happy, they spread really fast and are hard to get rid of.

The kalk might be the way to go. I was wondering if maybe a raccoon butterfly might do the job...?

Just make sure that people know how fast they can spread. then you wont feel bad because its up to them what they put in. you told them so you wont feel bad right?
