Ro/DI membrane question

How long do they last, galons wise, and will one go bad if it sat for 2 years in the RO/DI chamber of the RO unit.

Alot depends on the water quality on input. I believe most membranes should not be stored dry once they have been wetted. The only way to test it is with a TDS meter though.

And even if it remained wet in the housing, but set unused for that long a period, it is likely you have bio-fouling.

A quick check - pull the membrane out of its housing and see what you see. Is it slimey? Discolored? Do the ends of the membrane smell bad?

And check the membrane function with a meter as mentioned above.
