I had a Mag 7...too noisy and the flow caused a boil in my sump. Switched to the Eheim 1250...whisper quiet but not enough flow as I was getting film on the surface of my sump.

Mag 7 is 400gph. Eheim 1250 is 175gph. Is there something quiet between these 2?

Eheim 1260 and throttle it back. You could convert the mag7 into a Mag5 with an impeller swap. Not as noisy as a mag7, but not Eheim quiet either. You could also add a powerhead to the sump to move a little more water.

The 1260 was a thought. I know with mags you're supposed to use larger that 3/4" pipe to maximize flow. Same with the Eheims or should I scrap the 1.25" plumbing that I just built?

Eheims dont need the big plumbing. 3/4" is fine on a 1260. The mag7 uses 1/2". 1" would have been big enough..

Thanks. HD only selss PVC is 8 foot sections, so I had to buy 8' to make the ASM gate valve. Needless to say I had some left over.

Thanks for the help.
