What are bloodworms and what did they eat? Not blood I'd hope.

Bloodworms are larva. Don't feed them to your fish. They cause liver problems.

Seriously. How about if they're frozen ones?

Somewher I read that bloodworms are mosquito larva. But I did not know that they could cause liver problems.... Vodka perhaps, but worms? :)

All blood worms will cause this problem.

How so? Even if they're frozen? I think they're hikari ones

Frozen ones will cause liver problems also. I'm not really sure why they cause liver problems but I've read it a number of times on differen't sites.

Chironomus mosquito larvae.

Crap I'll stop using them then. Hope my clowns are ok. I was going for the varied diet.

Anyone use bloodworms in their tank? Guess they're not mosquitoes and feed on algae.

I feed them to my freshwater fish all the time. They are pre-frozen (not live), and the fish seem to love them. I don't really know anything about liver problems and I'm not really sure if fish get jauntice.

I do remember reading an article by Dr. Ron that bloodworms have absolutely no nutritiunal value for s.w. fish.
