Heliopora is one of my favorite corals in my tank- very unique corals IMO.
On the reef Heliopora is common in fairly shallow, very warm waters that usually have quite a bit of water movement. Ive seen it do OK is medium light tanks, but it never really seems to grow all that much. The top of my main colony is about 8" from a 250wt halide and is right in the middle of the return-stream from my sump (tank returns a bit over 3,000gph, about 1/3 of that comes pouring directly over the colony). I have never supplemented iron directly, but I do change 50 gallons of water about ever 2 weeks (350g system)
It was originally quite a bit lower with a little bit slower water flow, and it would only open every few days and didnt get much growth. Now one section has parts of it that are just above the water surface starting to form little islands.
I guess my point is, I would suggest you hold off for now, though others may have had a different experience...

My piece is about 10" under the surface and directly unber a 150w MH. For a couple years it hardly grew at all, an has just started to grow (how ironic that I am moving in a month). I would say that you will need more light. heck I would say I need more light for it; on top of the MH I have 196w of PC.

Mine has literally grown out of my tank under VHO. It started out around 8" from the top of the coral to the surface of the water and grew until the tips died due to air exposure.
