ok im going to hooking up my new diy sump system its a 20 gal and mu display is a 20 gal just a couple questions

1.how should i go about adding the sand to my refugium, i dont want a sand storm in my tank?should i seed it ? is it ok to use playsand?

2.will the adition of all the new water make my system freak out?

3s.hould i let my system run in a loop till everything settles?

IMO, unless you plan to house in fuge macro that requires substrate, there is no need for a sand in fuge at all. Better yet, put LR rubble there for pods, and chaeto for nutrient export.

To minimize "system freaking out" I'd slowly add new salt water to the tank, and let overflow to fill sump. (say 5 gallons per day). When sump half full, then add new water directly to sump. And start pump:) IMO, this would be the least stressfull method.
