hey there i just recently returned from Iraq/Germany and wanted to say hi. i am setting up my first saltwater 55g. i have had many fresh/tropical in the past but i love the marine life. i have been talking to 2 guys at the Weaver/160 Pet Wharehouse and they have helped a bunch. i have reada alot about doing this set up and have to say so far things are going smoothly. i am however looking for someone who may have some coral pieces they may want to give away or sell cheap -- i am particularly looking for some Pulsing Xenia. i should be ready for it in a few weeks -- base rock and live rock should go in by next week so i say 2 weeks of cycling and should be ready for life.
so come on guys and gals -- if your tank is overwhelmed -- rather than trashing or killing your excess let me know what you have and i will come and get it. im not really looking for a hand out i just thought that someone might have something to get me started so i dont spend $$$$ on something that may die due to new tank set up. thanks

well before you put anything in there, you'll want to be patient and let your tank do a full cycle and get stable... can't just start her up and dump fish and corals in :)

great -- i will let you know when i get things ready.
right now the status of my set-up is that i have put my subtrate in and have been cycling the water for about 5 days now. i am waiting for my base rock to come in -- then i will be adding my 25# of base rock and 25# of live rock that i will purchase after the base is in the tank for 24 hours.
i know i have to wait until the tank stablizes after the intro of the live rock. but i wanted the water to cycle for a few days with some micro bacteria to boost the start of the bio-filters.
i will keep you all updated on the progress as time goes on.

ok sorry it has been so long i have recently moved into my house and do not have my internet service hooked up yet.
the tank is comming along great
i have a purple gonoporia, purple tube worm, pulsing zenia, green star polyps, 2 long tentacle anenome - one tan and one green, 2 percula clowns, a yellow eye tang, coral beauty angel, manderan fish, 2 turbo snails, hermit crab, and 2 skunk cleaner shrimp.
everythig is growing and doing great. i am in the process of trying to expand my coral collection on the weekly basis. i am looking for some rare colorful corals to add to the collection.
i had a red leather but it was severed from its base rock and died in about 3 days. i am looking for anyone that has a frag of Eagle Eye zooanthids. or any type of colorful corals.
i have a power compact w 2 65w 50\50 and Atinic lights as well as led moonlights. i am getting ready to build a sum to get all the filters and crap off the back of the aquarium.
if anyone has or knows of any one who would be willing to sell a frag of a coral please let me know.
i will try to get my internet set up here shortly
