i just put some macro algae in my refugium to try to get rid of my phosphates.(not going well by the way).
I was wondering if PC lighting is ok for macro algae? Or do i Need a metal halide. And how many watts.?
Also how much macro do you need to get rid of your phosphates (alot) in a 75 gallon?

I use the pc bulbs from home depot. The ones that screw in. I do not remember the brand but they have a scale on the package and I use the daylight ones

PC lighting has worked well for me. The wattage needed depends on the refugium size and the amount of growth wanted.

I use to bulbs from wal-mart true sun light 6500k lights of America. About $4 each you can get a clip on light fixture for about $8 total $12 plus tax. I do have a double light fixture on mine with a 20 watt 50/50 bulb also works great.

According to Melev's site, these (http://www.lightbulbsdirect.com/page/001/PROD/Reflectors/1P381651) PAR38 Reflector 16 Watt / 5100K supposedly work well; considering it for my new set-up.
