Hello, there is a biology teacher in my school who was donated a saltwater tank, boy is it dirty. Yellow tang, clarki clown, royal gramma. Man I wish I would have known it was up for sale before the donation, must be 75-90 gallon tank :D Anyway, he has these things EVERYWHERE throughout the tank, he calls them "mushroom polyps." For some reason I don't think they are because they resemble zero mushrooms, here is a description. They look like a very small anemone (which it is not I am sure), base like a suction cup, stuck to glass and rock everywhere. Brown/rusty/orange type of color. Instead of the mushroom look, it is like arms flying everywhere like an anemone. Any idea what it is? Is this aptasia? He told me if I wanted any come on down and take some home but I don't know if I even want them, do they spread like that? Did the tank just come like that? Don't know those questions but if it is aptasia or something else bad for the tank let me know. Thanks for any help

Sounds like aptasia to me.

I found one about two weeks ago and now I have three. Not good.

It sure sounds like aptasia to me, I'd pass on the "Free bee's" ;)
