A little about my tank. Been running since June 1st.
65 gallon tank, 20 gallon sump with asm g-2 skimmer, cpr hang on back refugium. 70lbs live rock
Livestock
1 3" scopas tang
1 yellow tail blue damsel
2 1" percula clown fish (dead)
1 Algea Blenny
1 cleaner shrimp
1 banded sea star
SG 1.022
Ammonia, Nitrite, Nitrate at 0 acorrding to an API test kit.
I have not added any livestock since July.
I was having algea problems but recently added the refugium. I put some cheatomorph algea in there to help but overnight it was covered in brown slime algea. My LFS told me it was time to cheat and put one Maracyn tablet in. He said it would kill only the brown slime algea and leave everything else alone.
As soon as I did this the protein skimmer went crazy shooting foam out around the top so I had to unplug it. This was last night, the fish started to look terrible and my two clown fish died today during the day. The scopas tang doesn't look far from death and the damsel isn't acting himself. The only thing that appears to be fine is the cleaner shrimp because he was running around with the clownfish bodies.
I retested the water, all levels are still at 0. I have changed 10%. I'm running the protein skimmer anyway to try and help with oxygen. I also added two fluval 2 internal filters with carbon to try and help things.
Please offer any advice and help me figure out what happened.
