I've had this one "bottlebrush" like acro for a couple months now, and it's been STN'n rather wierdly, when I first got it I cut it into 4 frags, 2 stayed in the frag tank and stayed brown and two coloured up.

Whats wierd is the ones that stayed brown are heathly alive and show no signs of STN, but.. the ones the coloured up a nice purple quickly started to STN from the bottom up (with no signs of boring algie)

My Alk is around 9dkh
Calc between 420-460
Salinity 1.026
flow is good, 2x 6100 tunzees
light 2x250w bulbs (was 1 14k, 1 20k) Now both AB 20k.

Any suggestions would be great!

Sure i'll snap some pics tonight but it really doesn't look like anything odd, it looks like normal stn.. it's just that I konw the paremeters are fine, and what makes it odd is the coral colours up first and then dies.

How is your water flow? Usually, wild acro colonies seem to require quite a bit of current. I have a couple of wild acro colonies and have had my share of struggles with them. I try to keep them in the vicinity of good/great water flow with 8-9 hours of metal halide lighting.

What is your Phosphate level?

Have you dipped this coral to check for pests? Specifically acro flatworms.

Sometimes ill get a coral that if the light doesnt get to the base, it dies. Wondering if you frag a good peice from the colored up one, would it continue to stn? If no, then it could be its so tightly together. But like someone said before, dip? doesnt really look like bite marks though. But could be a pest of some sort.
