I think I may have taken some bad advice from my LFS about 3 weeks ago.

I was buying some LR for my first tank and the guy gave me a piece of culpura, and a small bunch of cheato.

He told me that since I did not have a fuge, and I wanted a reef to plant the culpura and the cheato to remove nutrients. The calpura has grown about 4-5 leaves in the corner of my tank in the sand.

Should I take this out? I plan on getting a fuge eventually but I don't want it taking over my tank.

What do you all think?

The caulerpa could go sexual if given the proper conditions. There was a post of a guys tank that turned green because of it. I'd probably get it out of there if it were me. As for the chaeto, I guess it's cool to have it in there. You could also build your own fuge from a hob filter if you don't want it in the tank. The only downside I can see from having in the tank is looking at it. It will reduce nutrient levels and it won't go sexual on you. A good macro to have indeed.
