well, if in doubt, fill the unit full. it only absorbs until it can't anymore.

basically, it wont hurt to use as mucha s possible. there is no "over use " of phosphate reducing material..

although some will say some SPS need some phosphates to grow properly

allot of us just add 1-2" and replace when it test above 0 coming out of the reactor.

mine clumps up pretty quick so if i stuffed allot in there id have to mess with it more often.

I've been told the correct dosage is about 1g. per gallon of water and not to use more then 1.5 - 2g. per gallon or alk. can be significantly affected.

I just changed mine today and will verify the clumping issue if you use too much. According to the directions from Rowa, about 1g per gallon of water (like HowardW just posted.) The last time I changed it, I used twice as much and probably didn't get my money's worth out of it.

You literally test it coming out of the reactor? Not just randomly from the main tank?

Some people have reported RTN/STN events after using large amounts of Rowa or other phosphate removing media. The typical advice is to go slow and use less than recommended for your first application. After the corals adjust to a lower PO4 level in the tank, you could use the recommended amount. HTH
