We bought a coral (colt we think) last weekend. We superglued him down at his new spot. He was slumped over and we were told it was because he was stressed from the move and from being handled too much. He is still slumped over and now his base is turning black and the black stuff is moving up his stalk very quickly. What is it? What should we do?

i have a colt that did the same thing, do you feed it phyto and or zooplankton? that helped mine out, also look for nudibranches, they are very sensitive to them and will shut down quickly. are the ployp's out ? most likely just give it a few days and it will come back , they are very hardy. mine has almost doubled in 4 months or so.

How do I feed it? Just shoot the stuff at it?

I just checked him again and he has a bunch of "bugs" on him. They are these tiny little things crawling around his base where it is black. Should I try to get them off?

you wont be able to get all the bugs off of it, you have it out of your main tank into a quarentine tank right? the first thing i would do is contact the LFS that you got it from and tell them, and possible try to get your money back. I have also heard of people giveing their corals freshwater baths and peroxide baths, but i havent had to do that so im not in any means or way telling you to do so. you would know a nudi if you saw it, kinda looks like a slug and are bigger than the bugs your decribing.
