What do you think??

http://reefcentral.com/gallery/data/500/920skimmer_installed.jpg

It's 20" diameter and over 4' tall, and holds about 40 gallons of water!!
Runs on a dart needle wheel and Alita Al60 airpump.
I built a bubble plate for it as well.

I have to thank my friends Justin and Erick for all of the hard work in putting this project together...I was going to buy 14" diamter acrylic at $250 a foot!!!

Check out the custom lid they did for me on the laser:

Been running for just about a week and I am still dialing it in. I'm thinking of adding a larger ring of acrylic to the underside of the lid.....to force the drier foam over the side of the neck.

My friends here in town know a fiberglass guy who shot the skimmer based on molds they had designed.

Here is a better pic of the skimmate:

the ring for the underside of the lid will helpout quite a bit, but watchout for the wet neck!!

Hey Eric,
So you think the ring will help??
It just seems to me when I run the foam on the dry side it just builds a big head of foam but has trouble spilling over the edge.
If I run it wet, It will sometimes fill the cup with tea color water in a few hours.

Woooow. That is a huge skimmer. You could probably sell that to NASA.

I notice you have 2 enaly ozone reactors. Does those reactors fed O3 to your skimmer? If it does will there be no problem using ozone reactor to your fiberglass skimmer?

Not using the ozone yet..I did with my old skimmer.

I'm going to set up an Ozone reactor if I need it again..maybe I will be fine with just the larger skimmer.

The needle wheel is from my friend Justin. It is a prototype that he has been working on for sequence.

hey john,
did you put the deflection ring on yet? i think we centered the logo around where you could put a piece of 8" ring right around the perimeter of it. eric

Haven't been able to get with Justin to get the ring yet.
I've been running the thing "wet" the past few days anyhow just to see how that goes.
