When I bought a frag of rainbow acan it was 5 polyps and bright orange. Now my colony looks just like yours, green with purple eyes and orange near the rim. I think it has a unique look and I like it a lot. I am reluctant to frag it though, as I would get rid of the orange polyps. Very pretty colony.

yeah they are a very nice lookin acan....
i got these about 3 months ago and they were already pretty but they have even colored up alot more in the last month....
they havent really grown too much yet ....
i have some orange ones that are slowly growing....
heres a pic of those they are in the back ground in this pic
right now out of all my corals in my tank my acans are my favorite ive got 4 different ones... ive got alot of sps but none have the color intensity of these acans

Acans are all really easy to frag, you could literaly take a hammer to that colony to make frags and most would survive. Other better methods are:
Hammer and chisle
Dremmal with diamond cutter
Bandsaw
Bone cutters
Dont worry about cutting polyps in half, in a week or two, they will start forming in to whole polyps again.

I know we all like to frag our stuff. But man that's just to Sweet,to butcher that baby. The color orange just wrap around that whole coral. It's just to perfect,to even think about it:eek1:

yeah i guess ur kinda right huh?
it would be destroying something pretty if i did that cuz it would never look the same
that orange is awesome how it surrounds the whole coral....

ya acans are very easy to frag, I've taken a hammer and chisle to my colonies before. It really is amazing. If you ever do, I get first choice as I was the first to post ;D

Just feed them, and they will do well for you.If you just got them,it 's going to take time to get used to your tank conditions.

IME echinatas are slow growers to begin with, but feeding it a couple times per week will help it along.

If you don't have a lot of them.I take them out and feed them in a bowl. That way you won't over pollute your tank.Just a little tip here for you.Just don't expose them to the air. Some of these guys will only put their polyps out when it's dark.If doing it in the day time, just put a towel over your bowl.Poyps will pop out for you then, target feed.:)
