Looking for a good alternate for Acrylite GP that may be cheaper.

What brands do you use?
I've been calling most local places and they say that all prices are around the same for cast acrylic. Either imported or domestic...

What kind of prices should I expect to pay for 3/8" and 1/2" clear?

Hello
Here in Chicago...
3/8"x 4'x8' GP...around $175.00
1/2"x 4'x8' GP...around$250.00
it's getting to be crazy prices

Are prices steadily rising? If so... what is the reason for it?

Chemcast and Polycast are also good brands that are usually a little cheaper. Depends on your supplier though.

Actually, acrylic prices have stablized this year. I haven't had a single price increase. Last year was horrible though. There were something like 10 prices increases in one year.

If Polycast is cheaper where you are - I'm moving ;)
Where I am, Polycast is most expensive, then Cyro Acrylite GP, then Plexiglas G, then Chemcast. These are the only brands I'd consider and am still not sold on Chemcast. Too many problems I keep hearing about. I don't know if they are necessarily material related or more on the fabricator - just passing it on.

Edited to add; we have had only one price increase this yr on Polycast (8% in August) but has prety much stabilized like FadetoBlack points out. In the last 2 yrs though, prices are up 30-50% overall.

I haven't had any issues at all with Chemcast, but most of my fabrication with it is vivariums, so it is a very low stress application.
