You're picture is a little blurry. Is it the same thing as this?

If so, I can't tell you what exactly it is, but I've got 10 or so of them on one rock, and they've never caused any problems that I can see. I think they're a type of sponge, but I'm not entirely sure. Sometimes they're wide open like the one in the middle, and sometimes they close up really tight (you can see one in the upper right doing that), but I don't know why.

I think it might be a tunicate.

I agree but in the photo there doesn't appear to be incurrent/outcurrent holes -

no there is no holes like the pic from godel but on the top and bottom there are holes the size of and ink pin head

Tunicate or Bryozoan

I'd vote for a species of bryophyte (Bryozoan). There are actually pretty common in reef tanks and can be dull white or grey as well as red or blue tinged. Check out any of Paul Humann's Reef ID books on inverts (geared for diver's, but useful to everyone) for a sampling of similar critters.

Won't harm anything in your tank, just part of the natural fauna.
