Hi,
I just bought a lawnmower blenny. Ususally I QT any fish I buy. Since this Blenny eats algae, which I don't have much in my QT tank, what should I feed him???

Should I even QT him??

Thanks

I would move an algae-covered piece of live rock from my main tank to my quarantine tank. I presume you have one since few buy lawnmower blennies unless they have algae that needs taming.

If you have ever used medication in your QT tank, you probably don't want to move the piece of rock back, so use a smaller piece. If you have used meds and don't want to lose LR, try harvesting algae from your current tank and putting it in your QT using a veggie clip.

Good idea. I'll just pull out some algae from the main tank and throw it in the QT

Thanks!!!

Don't know specifically about lawnmowers, but many blennies are scaleless and don't do well with water treatments - at least do some doublechecking on this before you add any prophlactic meds to the tank - sorry I can't do more than warn of possible danger :(

I don't plan on putting any meds in the QT. I just want to make sure he doesn't show any kind of diseases before I put him in the main tank.

I just got one myself today, I just put him or her in my 300 gal. Started eating right away.

So, you didn't bother to QT it?

They eat nori also. I would not skip the qt. It will come back to haunt you one day.
