I've had it with my sea clone 100, I need a new skimmer. I have a 40 gal. tank, guess I need a hang on skimmer or in tank skimmer, I just want something that works, easy to maintain, and won't leak like my sea clone. Thanks.

[welcome]

In tank, a Tunze DOC 9005. For hang on, the new Deltec MCE300 (out soon) would be nice.

I use the hang-on-the-back Deltec MCE600 (~$450 new) and while it's pricey - it's built like a tank and skims the cr_p right out of the fishies bottoms.........I've had it on my 50g mixed reef for one year now and I highly recommend it. The MCE300 (as above - second batch from Germany due soon) will do the job perfectly - It's a bit smaller and priced ~$279.

Good luck -

Rich

I also have the mce600 and it pulls black skimmate, not tea-colorred or brown but black

One of the above should do the trick for you.

Man 279 is kinda pricey for me right now, any cheaper suggestions that still work great, I only have 2 fish, don't think I'll ever have more than 4 smaller size fish. Plus I kinda need one soon......maybe I can fiddle with the seaclone some more till I can get the good stuff, I dunno I'm just sick of it.

Many people are saying good things about the Corallife Super Skimmers. I have one and it works well, for the money. It won't give you the performance you'd get from a Deltec , but it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

I second the Tunze Doc skimmer. Here's a thread with some info and feedback on them:

Look into the Tunze nano. Rated at 52 gallons for a lighter load like you have.
