should i pay attention more to my ph level or my dkh level

Wow, now that is a quaestion that will get you some responses.
You need to pay attention to both. Your Ph can/will flucuate every hour. You Alk tends to be a little more stable. If I were you I would take a look in the chemistry forum for articles by Randy Holmes Farley.

mg426 is right. Also becareful when raising or lowering it; it can affect other things as well...

since alkalinity directly effects pH, dKH is more important to me. but both should be checked regularly, weekly at the min.
