I recently asked the same question.

I setting up a 225gal tank 14 ft. above my basement sump and everybody seems to rec. the panworld 150ps or 200ps. I am going to order one of them from premium aquatics tomorrow.

At 14ft the 150 = about 800gph (at 180 watts) and the 200 = 1200 gph (at 290 watts).

Seems like everyone rec.'s 3-5 tank volume thru the sump so for me the 150ps should work, and save a little on electricity.

I went a bit overboard when getting a pump for my 180 with all equipment in the basement. I bought the Sequence Manta Ray. It is a 3/4 hp pressure rated pump. However on the other side of the coin, it is the only pump that I am running. It is enough pump to run my return, chiller, Bullet 3 skimmer and everything else with some to spare.
