This has been going on for about 3 weeks now. My corals arent opening up like they used to. It started with the green polyps, then my hammer, and frogspawn, and now my toadstool retracts from time to time.

salt= 1.025
Ca= 400
ak= 3.5ml
ph 8.2
ammonia 0
nitrite 0
nitrate 0

I did a 40% water change the other day and it did help some, but they still arent opening up like they used to.

I run a Aquactinics 72" t-5 light on a 125G tank 72x18x22

Let me know what other info you need to know and I'll try to get it.

Do you use tap water?
What is the tank temp?
How old in the tank?

Any new creatures in the tank that might be irritating them?

--------------------------------
No.. I use a RO/DI unit. TDS are 1 or less

What is the tank temp?
------------------------------

Temp is around 79 to 82.

How old in the tank?
--------------------------
The old tank 90 gal was about 3 years old, about 3 months ago I upgraded to a 125g tank. I used all my old LR, about 80% old live sand and added 40 lbs of new dry sand.

The frogspawn and toadstool's I have had for about 2.5 years. the polyps I have had for about 6 months. Also I got some zoa at the same time and they are growing, & spreading like crazy. Doing very good.

Any new creatures in the tank that might be irritating them?

If they are there doing when my back's turned. every now and then I will see a snail or a hermit crab walk across the coral but never take a bit out of it.

Well, I'd have to say I don't see a particular problem. I'd stop the iodide, since I don't believe it beneficial and do not have high confidence in the testing of it, but that is fairly unlikely to be the problem.

Well, I'm going to do another large water change this weekend. It did help just a bit last time.

I was out of town working for about 2 week and my wife and son feed the fish, so maybe one of them didn't wash there hands before they feed the fish.

Every thing was fine before I left, and when I came back the polyps where closed, then the others started doing it about a week later.

I'll just have to keep changing the water till I get it right.

Thanks
Dave

OK.. I was looking at my frogspawn and saw my flame angel taking a nip at it. I got a closer look and saw a worm like thing extending upward out of the mouth.

Bad pic but it's the best I can do.

What the heck it this thing? I will also post it in the coral forums.

I'm not sure what that is. It might just be waste being ejected.

What about your flow? Have you made any adjustments. I have realized that lps/softies are piky when it comes to flow. Too much and the stay closed. Although the GSP should be loving high flow???

Did you use any phosphate remover that contain alumina at all?
