I have a 72 gallon bow front with about a 2" sand bed. Was thinking about adding the GARF Live Sand Activator/Grunge. I wanted to get opinions on if it was worth adding to my sand bed, and how much is useful, but not overdoing it. At $5/lb and 1lb per 3gallons, it would cost $120 to do it the way they recommend. I am wondering what is it that i actually will need to find this product useful, and if it really is a large benifit in the tank?

I think a detrivoire kit from Inland Aquatics is a far better purchase.

I worry obviously about a few of the items in that list, I don't want anything there getting too big and then attacking my fish. You find this better then the Grunge kit that GARF sells?

I've gotten kits from IPSF.com and Inland Aquatics, and liked them both. I'd avoid the GARF Grunge since it's very coarse.

Since the sandbed is only 2", you could skip the seeding altogether, although some seeding might help with longevity. Your call.
