Alright I just got my 1/3hp prime chiller. Should I program my acjr to turn off the pump and the chiller or should the chiller constantly have water running through it?

I spoke with a chiller company rep. and he said that it would be harmful to run the chiller without water even for a short period of time. You could also run a dedicated pump to the chiller. You would only be circulating through the sump, but I don't think that it woud take long to cool down the tank.

IMO no pump should run all the time. Otherwise water can go foul.

I froze my chiller up by not running water through it for five minutes . So you need to run water all the time trough it.

Did you mean the opposite?

I'll keep it on. Also my pump isn't producing that much flow. Their site recomended 700-1400 gph and i prob have about 500gph through it. Will this cause a problem? It seems to be working fine.

Ah, I see. A comma would have fixed that.
