Just added 2 x 250 MH (10K) to my 440 VHO for a total of 940 watts on a 90 gallon tank. Can anyone recomend some beginner SPS? I already have 2 monti cap frags.

Thanks,
Motorhead

yep...your lights sufficient...keep them halides way up off the water..10k's are POWERFUL!

Try monti's..caps, and digi's...birdsnest can be tricky sometimes..stlo's and pocci's are very hardy as well as pavonas...

another thought also ,you could buy a cheap brownout and watch it color up .If you can do that you should beable to keep others.

But I agree go slow on the stocking .

Heck, some of my best acros were brownies when they came in....brown acros can turn into amazing greens and purples!!

Montipora capricornis is pretty easy. Probably my favorite sps because it is so resilient and can grow really fast.
I have had the best luck with tank raised frags. They always did better for me anways.

Browned out frags are great for learning on. I bought one about 6 weeks ago that is finally turning a nice purple. A great feeling of satisfaction comes with that kind of success. Plus frags are cheaper (even compared to softies and lps around here).
