What are these things? When I first got them (first pic) I didn't think much of them...but it seems as though there is something growing inside, I can see something silver inside of them.

They do kind of look like eggs. What kind of critters do you have in there?

Well they were there when I got the rock, so I'm not sure they were "layed" by anything in my tank but here goes:


4 astreas
3 blue leg
2 red hermit
5 serpant stars (maybe more)
20 feather dusters (maybe more)
Bunch of Porcelain crabs
Bunch of gorilla crabs
At least one mantis
tube coral
cup coral
boulder coral

None of those seem like they'd lay eggs like that. How long have you had the rock? Very interesting anyway. You'll have to keep an eye on it and see if they hatch. I'd work on getting the crabs out tho.

Yeah in my tank there's a neverending battle between man and crab/shrimp.............I'm definitely losing


I figured nothing I have would lay something like this...are they fish?

I have no idea. :D Take a glass or small vase, put in some meaty food. Just after the lights go out, tip the glass up against the rock at an angle, so it won't fall over. Preferably close to where you've seen the bad crabs. In an hour check the glass, if nothings in there just keep trying for a few days. This usually catches them. You'll catch the hermits also, just pull them out.

I've tried the coke bottle trap A LOT, with no success. It seemed when there is other food available they won't go for the traps...but I'm always looking for other ways to get these guys other than chopsticks and hours of chasing, so thanks again!


Anyone else on these (egg?) things???

Well the crabs currently have a lot of options to feast on...



what are these things??? I'm terrified at what might crawl out of these things...
