Buy some Large Hermit Crabs. The Red Hermit Crab Dardanus Megistos. These guys get big. I have some with shells the size of tennis balls. They kick butt at cleaning up after a messy Clown Trigger too. I have over 20 Large Hermit Crabs. You have to keep the Clown fed though, or he will eat the crab. You could get Damsels too, but you might lose them to the Clown, or to the other Damsels. You might want to buy a bigger tank. At least a 75 gallon, but preferably a 100, or at least start thinking about it.

I hear the foot steps of the "Trigger Police" coming.
I was at a lfs & they had a 12" clown trigger in a 75gal tank. All you had to do is look at him, & he would bite the glass. Someone traded him in after loosing some flesh. Wonder if they have obedience training for mean fish?

Who are The Trigger Police? The ones who warn against tank size, and multiple Triggers?

I'm debating whether or not to feed my wifes cat to my Undulate; any body see any dietary difficiences with doing so?

It was said that there was a guy in San Diego with 2000 gallon Grouper Tanks. He used to feed the Groupers live chickens. I thought it was cruel, and I guess it is, but from a dietary standpoint it might have been the best choice for food.
I saw a friends Grouper swallow a 7" Koi. The tail was sticking out of his mouth, and these Eels came out of nowhere, and started ripping chunks out of the tail. It was a feeding frenzyl

When the clown is still small it should be ok in that tank, of course as he grows you might want to put him in your 125. As for tankmates I would say try and find something a similiar disposition. Although triggers are known for thier aggressive nature it doesn't mean that you might get one on the lower end of the scale. (respectively)

IMO too many ppl freak out about the adult size of fish. if you are a good observer of you tank and understand what is going on inside you tank then you should not worry too much. Bottom line is that an adult CT should not be in anything below 125 in the very least. but a juvi..... Something smaller is understandable. I’m very tired of ppl making judgments based on adult size when in today’s hobby many ppl do not keep fish until their adult size. Many ppl have access to other fish keepers or LFS that will take on larger fish.

You are very correct.
But I have heard so many lfs employees say "that fish will not get that big in that size tank." and they are correct. The fish will die first.
Newbies are led to belive that the fish will stay small in a small tank.
Last week I overheard a girl asking about a 10" carpet anemone. The lfs employee asked what size tank she had. The girl replyed "a 12gal JBJ ." The lfs employee said that was a nice tank & sold her the carpet anemone.
This is not a very reputable lfs, but people shop for the cheapest place & end up getting bad info. Or a tank that crashes from a huge carpet anemone.
Sometimes we are too blunt & to the point. I keep my mouth shut, unless asked.
:D

well with clown triggers it is kind of a big deal, because if you feed them correctly and keep the water the way it should be, they can grow 8" in a year no problem. a 55 would only be good for a few months if the fish is growing like it should.
