A non marine hobbyist friend of mine asked me if marine mushroom corals are part of the fungi family? (IE - same family as non-marine mushrooms)

Anyone?

no, they're only called mushrooms for their shape resembling land based shrooms. our mushrooms are in the order Cnidaria along with corals, jellies, anemones, and zoanthids.

Nope- they are not fungi... they are Animals.
