Hey i have a 48" fixture that the legs arent working out very well for me due to a bowfront tank, and i was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to how i can get this fixture up off the tank a bit so i dont have any heat issues, or lessen them

I dont really want to put too many holes in my place as i rent and i dont know how strong my ceiling would be
i was thinking brackets that i could put into the walls that would give me clearance to hang the fixture but i'd also have to find a way to hold the light

any low tech suggestions that will be strong enough?

not a bad idea but i think my fixture is a bit too heavy for something like that

Try the arms that folks use to hang a hanging basket plant. Two or three of them attached to a stud in the wall should easily support your fixture. They also come in many colors and styles

Studfinder and some 3" woodscrews should hold just fine. If you are really worried about the weight use lag screws and drill a pilot hole for them into studs.
