I just got a flame scallop today. I just wanted to know the best way to feed them and what is the best nutrition for them. Can they get the same diseases as fish? thank you...

Flame scallops are very specific filter feeder. They will starve to death in your tank after a few months.
Also, they are not verymuch to look at. They just swim to a dark corner of your tank and stay there until they are dead.
Sorry to be so negative. It is best to do search befor you buy animals for your tank.

on the contrary ive had a flame scallop in my nano 4 over a year, true he will hide but if u wanna keep him alive he has to get lots of food,i target feed him in a bowl once a week with a whole Joes Juice syringe full of selcon.I think i hold the record for life span in captivity. GOOD LUCK.

well in my own defense, I always thouroughly research an animal before I think about buying it. A buddy of mine recommended a flame scallop to me. I guess he was just lucky to have it for a couple of years.

I think he read ways but is asking the best way, or what people have had the best luck with for their own experiences.

I have had one for a while now (a bit over 8 months?), it is fed phytofeast or phytopheafeast live (usually live) every other day or so, just added to the tank, not target fed.

i have had one in my tank for over a year and two months. Yes it hides in the rock work but i can see it. It is still doing great,a little growth but hard to tell. I think it was a sweet addition and i would get another in the future!!
I have NEVER ONCE target fed it either and i made it through my other tank leaking and a tank transfer that only two fish lived through!
Guess i got lucky and my water is just right for it!!
