I read that open brains MUST be placed on the sand bed vs. a rock in order to survive. However, what if the lighting is not strong enough to penetrate that deep? Why can't it be placed on a rock if it receives better light and water flow?

I have my red open brain placed in the middle of my rock work with no worries or problems. The brain has its own piece of skeleton that it sits on to prevent damage. I think the brains that shouldn't be placed on rock work are of the more full lobed brain type like a pineapple brain. But I'm still a noob so any LPS experts chime in at anytime.

Here is mine. It opens to about 8 inches across every day, and it is half way up on a rock. Running 14k Hamiltons.
