Well... after staring closely at my nano.... this thing all of a sudden popped out at me.

It looks sweet with hair sticking out everywhere... I am very interested to know what it is.

I hope I can keep it because I don't think I'll ever be able to catch it.

It is about a 1/4" wide and looks like about 5" long.

Thanks...

Try looking up Hermodice carunculata. If that is it, you may have problems with it.

Oh man... I'm thinking it is a Hermodice carunculata.

Did a search on google and it really looks like it... but is there an exact way to tell?

I have $150.00 worth of coral frags coming in tomorrow... I'd hate for it to eat them!

THere is a tentacle or feeler look to the endmost appendages which I am not used to seeing in bristleworms, though I have never seen such fine photos of worms, either: excellent photography.

Put some shrimp in a wine carafe, lean it against his rock, and tilt it upward so a worm can't easily get out, and you may nab him by morning. A liter softdrink bottle with the pour-end cut off and glued back in reverse is a really inescapable trap for a worm or crab.

Assuming that the end of the worm you have shown in your picture is the "head", then you are fine, it is missing the distinctive feature (caruncle) of the Hermodice sp.

You can see the large caruncle in pictures on this page.

I would say you have an excellent detritivore there, just don't touch it!

does not look like a hermodice to me, more like a erythoe sp.
