Hammer Coral question

I have a neon green hammer coral which is doing well in my tank. I just picked up a smaller purple tipped hammer coral. Can I put these two hammer corls close to each other or do they need to be seperated?

Ive heard that you can actually merge two colonies together but I dont know for sure. If I were you id play it safe.

You shouldnt have an issue with them touching. I have a Frogspawn and a Hammer that touch and no ill effects. If you notice one not opening then move it away.
