Hi there janderson8. Have you looked into the ASM skimmers? I love ASMs. For their price and performance, it can't be beat. You can also do many modifications to make it perform even better than it already does. I feel the same way about Euroreef, except it's more expensive.

This Deltec model would work well if you aren't heavily stocked:

You might try posting your tank information in the Deltec forum and see what they say. The 701 would be better if you have a heavily stocked tank, but it would be a bit more than you want to spend.

Way way way too small for that tank, especially if he wants to keep sps/lps, and any more than a couple of fish.

I had a TF1000 on my 58, and felt it was too small.

As to the AP600, again, way too small for a 180. 701 would be the minimum, IMO.

4-5" bodied skimmers shouldnt even be in the conversation. 6" at absolute minimum, but 8-10" bodies is what we should be talking about.

You're probably right Rich. I was trying to stay in his price range with the AP600 and that's why I said to post the question on the Deltec forum. (Those guys won't recommend something you don't need). The 701 is a big jump in price. Probably best to spend an additional $200 and open up lots of choices.
