View Full Version : Pics of healthy Frogspawn?

Odd request I know. Frogspawn aren't exactly rare, but I'm just trying to find some good pics to use as reference. Recently I've noticed my Frogspawns tentacles have been thinning out and look somewhat like my torch. Not all of them, just a few. Also mine has never really been full colored. Instead it seems somewhat transparent. However, it has always opened quite wide and one of the branches looks like it is going to branch into 2.

I'll try and get some pictures over the next day or 2 to try and give a better idea of what I'm talking about. I'm just curious if all of this is normal.

Ive seen all kinds of different looking frogspawn, torch, and hammer corals. Just because yours looks different than ones in pictures or at a lfs doesnt mean its not healthy unless of course it is bleaching. Some even change over time because of lighting or location changes or they are just growing. My hammer doesnt look anything like what it looked like when I first saw it and brought it home from the store. Make sure you feed it a couple times a week too being that your lights may be a little weak.

Yea, I dont know what a bleaching frogspawn looks like. Mine is still colorful and such. My main concern is that I have a small Oscellaris that wont accept flake food and I don't want to do the live brine so I've been feeding frozen cyclopeeze daily. I only feed a little, but Im worried about the impact it could have on my corals.

I check the water quality nightly and do a 5g water change weekly so my nitrates are fine still.

your corals will be quite pleased with the extra food in the water colum ... just make sure you aren't adding too much food.

My frogspawn is somewhat transparent (as are some of my zoanthids - not the skirt, but the body) and has pinkish colored tips and green undersides. I believe they come in green and pinkish colors.

Yea, mine looks fine. I'm just getting paranoid since a few other things are going on now. My GSP hasn't opened for going on 3 days now and one of my snails died late last week. All of my tests are normal though and all of my other corals appear to be doing fine.

Just all this is new and I'm being overly paranoid I suppose.

I have 2 different frogspawns. One is orangish-pink with green tips. When it's fully expanded, the orange part is almost tranparent. The other one is multi-colored throughout and is very opaque.

Here's an old pic of mine (which unfortunately hasn't enjoyed my move much, still hanging on barely):

Here's a weird one that I just received in an online ordering mix-up:

I just got a small one a few weeks ago. It's doing great, but I didn't know I should be feeding it. How do you feed them ? Were do you put the food ?

Is it ok to put them that close together? I think I see some hammers, torch and frogspawn in there?

Yeah, they dont burn each other but u should provide some space in order to let them grow.

Is this true for all Torch and Frogspawn? Or just yours? I've got about a foot between my frogspawn and torch because my frogspawns sweeper is massive. I'd love to move them closer together to free up more room for other corals though but I've been afraid to.

Guess u can put them closer, even in contact but please wait for some confirmation so u can be sure. My hammers, frogs and torch all touch each other and there's no problem.
