Bio Filter Options

Hi which form of bio filtration is suitable for a fish only tank. Also
if I use a sump is there a way of extracting the water from the tank without having to drill holes in it! Is there some sort of DIY job that I can do in order to make it work.

To move water from your main tank to the sump, without having an internal overflow or drilling it, you would use an overflow box. You can see examples of them at lifereef.com (one of the more highly recommended brands for reliability).

You can use live rock for your bio-filtration in a fish only or reef tank. It might be a little pricey to start out with, but it is a one time cost.
