I am going to be getting a new skimmer soon, and am trying to decide between the coralife super skimmer 65, and the octopus NW110. Which would you choose, and why?

in sump skimmer? I had and just sold an asm g1x, was a great skimmer, I upgrade to a octopus nw-150, have not received it yet but hear from alot of people on rc that its a great skimmer and very reasonably priced (was 125 dollars for the 150, think 110's are around 100). I would get the largest skimmer you have room for.

octopus. it's modeled after the ASM's which are very good and very well liked. I'm switching to an ASM myself on my new tank. I'd get an octopus, but they don't have one large enough for what I need.

Ask around some more. I think others will agree.

+1 for the coralife super skimmer 65...i have the same one on my 46 gal and its amazing. it took about a day or 2 to break in but man after that it just started collecting a whole lot of bad stuff and the weird thing was it was set on low. now its in the middle and collecting even more dirt. the cup is about half full with green. =]

the CSS 125 and the 250 both use the same pump just chamber size is different i beleive that is why i got the CSS 125.

how hard is the css 65 to get dialed in? right now, i'm leaning towards that one.

also, is there a minimum water level that this needs to be placed in for an in sump skimmer?

i would say the 65 might be a little harder due to the fact it is smaller.

yes there is a minimum water level but wait to you get the skimmer before you really worry about that unless you are unsure of the sump size.

try looking on marine depot or gina's aquarium supply because you can get a super skimmer 125 for like 120$ its only like 30$ more then the 65 the 125 is just great for me, i cant believe a day later, not even its actually only been up for like 15 hours and the cup is like an inch filled with this thick green foam. Ive had plenty of skimmers, owned a down draft, still own a reef devil for my other tank, owned a few prizms but im just so very impressed with the construction and useability of this unit.

I was trying to keep this as inexpensive as possible, I don't plan on having a big bio load, so I already placed an order for the css 65. Thanks for your help everyone, i will be sure to let everyone know how i feel about it once i get it.

you should be ok with the 65.
