i picked up these acans at a lfs for 28 bucks, they where originally a large colony i saw in the store. about half of the polyps died and it wasn't looking so hot. a few weeks later it started growing a bunch of baby polyps and the remaining polyps looked great.

it was on a huge big rock, so i took it home and chopped and chiseled off the skeletal base of the dead polyps and all the rock i did not need got a nice piece for just $28.00 it has about 20 polyps.

thanks, i am happy w/ them. i figured what the heck, for that price if i chop em up to much and it dies it was worth the trial and error. it seems to have worked so far so good.

A buck and a few pennies per polyp for an Acan lord? You can't beat that with stick! ;) Nice pickup too!

Excellent find. Hate to say it (cuz I l totally love RM and Chris-Great guy-Great corals) but it kind of looks like one Chris is selling over at RM for over $100... not that it is the same, but it looks as nice. When you stumble on finds like these you have to savor the moment, deals like that are not that easy to find...Congrats :D

thanks a lot, i went to the store and thought long and hard and left. then i went to work the next day called them and said don't sell it i want it. It was a big piece, i guess a lot of people didn't see the potential. the polyps along the bottom edge lost a little color. I think it was because there was a power tool a half inch away from them. it still looks great though and the baby polyps continue to grow. it also took a good feeding yesterday which was a great sign.
