I'm wondering if it is ok to mix two different species of wrasse in the same tank? Particulary a 55 gallon. Any thoughts?

Depends on the species. Fairy wrasses most of the time are ok. Just add them in together.

Yes this is fairly common. I have a couple species for fairy, a H. Melenarus,. I have also previoulsy had flashers wrasses with fairies.

I am running a 55 gallon mixed reef and it has a Vanuatu mystery wrasse, Candy Hog fish, and a blue streak cleaner wrasse who all get along.

i have a 180 gallon with
4 flame wrasse
2 rhomboids
2 lineatus
1 balteatus
3 mccosker flashers
no fighting. My female lineatus chases the other females once and a while but no damage to fins.. all eat like pigs at feeding as well.
