We are looking for a tankmate in our 29g that is reef safe and will swim around the rocks like an angel.

We tried an Eibli Angel but he nipped at our open brain. I just would really like a fish that will swim around and be fun to watch but I don't want to take chances with another angel that might nip at corals.

We have a Sixline Wrasse that swims in and out of the rocks and is very entertaining. We also have two small Ocellaris Clowns.

The tank is fairly well established with about 35lbs of live rock and some zoos, frogspawn, mushrooms, xenia, and yellow polyps.

So, what suggestions do you guys have?

Thanks, :)

i was going to recommend a 1 large cinnamon clown then i seen you have a pair of clowns already so scratch that.

With a pair of ocellaris and a sixline, you'll want something that can stand up for itself. Talbot's damsels are small (2.5" max), pretty and have a very sweet personality - not at all like many other damsels. Mine spends most of her time out in the open showing off her gorgeous colours. 'Princess' lives with a flame angel, South Seas damsel and an ocellaris and has no trouble holding her own.

How about some type of blenny? They don't have the same swimming habits of a wrasse or an angel, but they do tend to be interesting. You might consider a pair of cleaner shrimp - they also add interest to a tank

IMO, 2 ocellaris clowns, a sixline, and an angel would be too much aggression in a 29g. I agree with angel*fish, try a fish that doesn't occupy any niche already taken by one of your other fish. Careful with the shrimp and a sixline though.

What blennies do you suggest? We had a blenny in the other tank that I loved but it died a couple weeks after we got it.

What do you guys think of this one?

well, I'd recomend a cherub pigmy angelfish. I've had one for about 7 months, and he's NEVER tasted a single coral. I guess it's hit or miss though. However the cherub is known for it's docile behavior against corals.

Of the two blenny species, Ecsenius midas tends to be easier overall. However, both are excellent species for a reef tank. The only downsides to Meiacanthus atrodorsalis is its need for plenty of rock fauna in addition to good regular feeding and a potential (but rare) venomous bite. Both would need to be feed well and fairly often, due to their high metabolic activities.

Hmm the venomous bite thing is kind of turning me off lol...

I do like the Cherub pygmy angel, we had one for a while in our other tank before we got the coral beauty. I don't know if I want another though, I like variety.
