I am setting up a corner 72 gal. FOWLR tank. I have 125 pound of LR, Aqua C Remora Skimmer (hang on) with Maxijet 1200 pump. What type of power head do I need?\

For a FOWLR, flow is important but not as critical as a reef setup. You will need enough flow to prevent the settling of detritus and thats about it. I would suggest a SEIO or perhaps a couple more MJs. You could also looking into MJ mods.

What is the basic setup I should have then for FOWLR with hopes of ugrading to Corals in the future.

This is what I have already:
72 gal corner tank
125 pounds of LR in the second week of curing
Ordered a 250W MH Icecap Retro Kit
Test Kit

I have two pumps in my tank. A QuietOne and a Penguin. The QuietOne has never given me any problems and has been running for 2 years constantly for the most part as it's my sump pump. I have never taken it apart or anything so, at least in my case, they seem to be pretty reliable.

I have only had the Penguin for 2 weeks so I can't be sure of that.

Sounds like you have a good start on a reef tank already if you are getting the halides. Now all you need is patience and some more reading. If you have the lighting and all that good rock and a good skimmer there is no reason you dont already have a reef tank. Keep us posted on your progress.

I will start taking pictures in the weekend. I hope to start posting them as soon as I finish curing my Rock. I will need as much help as possible since this is my very first tank. The only previous experience was a few bettas.

I've been mostly reading for the past year and I'm hoping to have some live creatures before the end of November.

MJ-1200"s, i have 4 on a 70g and they are placed in opposit corners so the flow creates a wavetype motion. one higher, one lower, one faceing upwards, one slightly downwards. but they all hit (flow) in the middle of the tank and the wave motion is always changing, but never left to right like a wave machine. :)

I like maxi jet 1200's or aquaclear 70's (the old powerhead 802's)

Maxi Jets are nice powerheads, and I like that they come with intake strainers to protect livestock. I just bought a Seio 820 for my new 90g and LOVE it - there's no small intake like on a MJ or AquaClear, it's designed in a very different way (similar to a Tunze). I'll get as much flow from this one pump as I did using three MJs before, I can't wait to get water in the tank and see it working.
