Ok, picked one of these beauties up to go with the purple and hippo i have and i cannot get him to eat anything i give. He swims around great, pecks at the algae or whatever it is on the rocks but has not eaten. I have tried, green algae sheets, Prime reef flake, formula 1 & 2 flake, omega one flake, mysis shrimp, blood worms.
Let me know what you have had success getting yours to eat. Dont want him to wither away as he/she is so pretty.
Thanks

hey cathman, give him a little time, try live mussels or little pieces of shrimp from your grocery store, dip them in garlic and toss them in the tank
also eventually he'll try to rule your tank, they can be a liitle agressive
mine is about 7" and cruises up and down his 240 :)
good luck

My new sohal isn't a big eater either. He tends to hide when I put food in the aquarium. I've seen him take some mysis shrimp and he does eat the dried green algae. He loves picking algae off the rocks for sure. I figure he's probably finding enough natural food in the tank.

Hmm, I have had 2 Sohals had to get rid of one since he was way too aggressive but the other one is pretty laid back. Both of the would eat anything and everything I put in the tank including krill, only thing I worried about was would he ever stop eating. Mine eats nori, mysis, krill, pellet, flake, brine, and hair algae.

My sohal dominated my tank. Loved nori, romaine, krill, mysis, formula two frozen, flake, pellet, fresh shrimp. I never used brine because I would have to load it up with nutrients to be useful.

I have a sohal and he only picked at foods I fed very little for 3-4 months and now eats everything and anything and is the most dominant fish in the tank, even bullies my pink tail trigger
